Becoming a proverbs 31 woman is not just about following guidelines on how to live your life–it’s all about embracing God’s grace, will and purpose, too.

It’s all about living like him.

Becoming a proverbs 31 woman isn’t an attribute that is peculiar only to married women, but an attribute or virtue that should be seen in all Christian women no matter what.

Before I dive deep, I would like to give a brief explanation on what it means to be a proverbs 31 woman.

What is a proverbs 31 woman?

• She is one who looks and lives like her bridegroom, Jesus Christ.
• She aims to become all that the Lord has destined her to be.
• She patiently and faithfully waits on the Lord.

Virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman

1. She loves the Lord

…But a woman who fears the Lord should be praised. (Proverbs 31: 30 NIV)

She is a woman who fellowships with the Lord and her lamp (hope) does not go out at night, because she is always on her knees praying to her creator. She knows the Lord through experience, personally and intimately. She allows the Lord to direct her path and is obedient to his guidelines and principles.

2. She is an intercessor

She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. (Proverbs 31:15 NKJV)

The Proverbs 31 woman is the one that watches over the nations, her family and her territories, and nothing alters without her prior knowledge.

3. She loves and feeds the poor

She extends her hand to the poor. Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. (Proverbs 31:20 NKJV)

A Proverbs 31 woman is one who feeds the young in faith with the word of God till they are fully grown and mature.

She goes out to win the lost soul to the Lord; she extends the gospel of the kingdom to all and sundry; she feeds those that are poor in spirit till they come to the knowledge of Christ.

She is indeed a wonderful woman.

4. She is hardworking

She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. (Proverbs 31:27 NKJV)

A Proverbs 31 woman is very hardworking. She does not procrastinate, she does the dishes at the right time, she cooks at the right time, she goes to work and does not delay what her husband, uncles, father, and mother need of her.

Wisdom guides her into what she should and should not invest in. She goes to the right place at the right time, working with her hands and receiving the fruit thereof.

5. She is beautiful within and without

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. (Proverbs 31:30 NIV)

Having been groomed by the bridegroom himself, she has a beautiful soul. She is guided by the Bridegroom on what to wear and what not to wear. She is modest, beautiful, and smart in her outward appearance.

7. Her mouth is guarded

She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness. (Proverbs 31:26 NKJV)

The Proverbs 31 women isn’t found with other women gossiping. Instead, she keeps quiet when she has nothing to say and when she speaks, she speaks with wisdom and integrity, her words are a comfort to whosoever she speaks to.

Becoming a Proverbs 31 woman is a Journey, it’s not something you can do on your own, it takes God’s grace to become.

8. She is trustworthy

The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. (Proverbs 13:11-12 NKJV)

The Proverbs 31 woman is the one that the Bridegroom trusts. He knows by her work for the Kingdom and her wise decisions and steps.

Three ways to become a Proverbs 31 woman

Proverbs 31 is all about becoming, so to ‘become’ you must:

1. Pray and ask the Lord to help you.
2. Dig deeper into God’s word because the word of God has the ability to remold you.
3. Partner with a friend of like mind for growth, because scripture says “iron sharpens iron.”
