Oftentimes we forget the many benefits of being a believer and our gratitude lacks. We can get stuck in our day to day struggles but we must remember that our God is faithful and consistent. The alphabet provides a way to remember the things He has done and who He is in our lives.
A: Answering our prayers
This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears. And if we know that he hears us-whatever we ask-we know that we have what we asked of him. I John 5:14-15
B: Blessings
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who take refuge in Him. Psalm 34:8
C: Calm in the middle of a storm
He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Psalms 107:29-30
D: Discipline that sparks maturity
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.” Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father. Hebrews 12:5b-7
E: Eternal life
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25
F: Faith the move mountains
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in your prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Mark 11:22-24
G: Grace
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
H: Hope
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
I: Interceding on my behalf
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. Romans 8:26-27
J: Joy that is my strength
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. “Do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10b
K: Kind
The Lord appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness. Jeremiah 31:3
L: Life
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
M: Mercy
It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassion’s fail not. They are new every morning; great is they faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23
N: Near
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalms 34:18
O: Omniscient
But whoever loves God is known by God. I Corinthians 8:3
P: Peace
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7
Q: Quenching our thirst
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:37-38
R: Refuge
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Psalms 46:1
S: Salvation
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10
T: Truth
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. John 16:13
U: Unconditional love
My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:12-13
V: Victory
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. I John 5:4-5
W: Wisdom
If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5
X: Xtraordinary
But we are citizens of heaven, where the Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak mortal bodies and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same power with which he will bring everything under his control. Phillippians 3:20-21
Y: Yahweh
I am the Lord; this is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols. Isaiah 42:8
Z: Zealous (as He is zealous for us, we are to be zealous for Him as well)
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. Titus 2:14
